CrisisResponse is a GIS mapping application for Public Safety officials during school emergency response situations. PeopleGIS has spent hundreds of hours researching the needs of Public Safety officers in fire, intrusion, active shooter, and other school responses. We discovered that dozens of data sources are in immediate demand in these situations, but often not immediately available.
CrisisResponse is the software solution we have developed to address these needs. CrisisResponse integrates school floor plans, schematics, instructions, contact lists, photography, and much more inside a single GIS application that is delivered on a compact disk or USB pen drive. Everything the end user needs is included on the CD/USB, including software! A School Department can copy CrisisResponse as many times as they need to with no additional licensing fees or royalties. We designed our approach this way to ensure that whoever needed the application would get it without the limitations of available budgets.
A significant feature of CrisisResponse is the integration of Virtual Tour photography, which represents the very best way of documenting every room in a school facility, including classrooms, closets, bathrooms, gymnasiums, hallways, basements, roof levels, outside grounds, and more. Each photo location is mapped to provide context. Users can jump from one photo to another to benefit from the virtual tour. We can even link voice files to bring that level of information to the application.
A new feature of CrisisResponse is the integration of live security camera imagery via secure wireless networking. With this approach, Public Safety laptops can access security cameras during critical response situations in real-time, with the locations of each camera being mapped for context. Combined with the Virtual Tour photography, voice files, floor plans, and all other data forms....we believe that CrisisResponse represents one of the best tools Public Safety officials can have to help them with very difficult situations.
